This text is about the plight of a young man who wants to get married. He is handsome and likable, but he has no money so none of his other qualities matter. In the end he is discouraged and told to make way for another man with the necessary means to make a good husband.
This story was told by Ibrahim Yohanna in a recording made in February 2013 in Tungan Magajiya, Niger State. It was transcribed in the orthography and translated into English by Sunday John using ELAN. I transcribed the text in IPA including tone marking and did morpheme-by-morpheme glossing and clause level annotation.
