Some Thoughts on an Aggregator for Library Science Articles

As I go through various Library Science issues related OLAC and language documentation deposit descriptions, I have begun to wonder if there is any aggregator for Library Science Journals and their content. If there were such an aggregator what might the facets be? Here is a partial list:

  • Serials
  • Monographs
  • Maps (cartography)
  • ETDs (Thesis and Dissertation Collections)
  • Software
  • Video Games
  • Collections
  • Aggregates
  • Video
  • Images
  • Audio
  • Copyright
  • Cataloging Standards (Practices)
  • Metadata Standards
  • Digitization
  • Portals (IU/UX)
  • Scholarly Communications
  • Learning Resources (any thing could be a LR, but I specifically mean things designed as curriculum)

Note: I did not put “cultural heritage” or “indigenous materials” on the list as everything could be these — it depends on the perspective. I am looking for the broad areas of practice that librarians deal with.

So far here is my list of Library Science Journals from which I have read articles:

  • Library Hi Tech
  • The Electronic Library
  • International Information & Library Review
  • International Journal on Digital Libraries
  • International Journal of Digital Curation
  • Library Philosophy and Practice
  • Library Resources & Technical Services
  • LIBER Quarterly: The Journal of the Association of European Research Libraries
  • Law Library Journal
  • Library Review
  • Cataloging & Classification Quarterly
  • Evidence Based Library and Information Practice
  • The Journal of Academic Librarianship
  • Information Technology and Libraries
  • The Serials Librarian
  • Journal of Documentation
  • Journal of Web Librarianship
  • Journal of Library Metadata
  • Journal of Internet Cataloging
  • Australian Academic & Research Libraries
  • Reference Services Review

  • International Journal of Metadata, Semantics and Ontologies
