Multilingual Metadata & Metadata Translation

This started as a course work project as part of an advanced cataloging course at the University of North Texas. It quickly grew into more. In this project I look at and pull resources together about Multilingual Metadata & Metadata Translation. There are clearly several overlaps with my other professional interests related to linguistics and translation studies. This project is scoped widely to include issues such as:

  • Language Identification,
  • Script Identification,
  • Encoding,
  • Record Managment Policy,
  • Translation of Metadata,
  • Transliteration of Metadata,
  • Publishing Practices Related to Multilingual Works,
  • Citation and Referencing Practices,
  • User Experience Design in Library Contexts,
  • and The Creation and Implementation of Multilingual Controlled Vocabularies.
