PARADISEC OLAC Records and Rights

Defining the scope of OLAC records is necessary. That is, a record can’t contain everything any body might want, however, while contemplating the following record I had some thoughts…

This PARADISEC record does not have a date of creation, or date of copyright.

While the included record does not specify a license such as a creative commons license, some records I have seen opt for a CC-BY-NC license without a record of when the license will expire. Exprirey date is linked to the term of copyright as provided by law within a specific country. Many records, if any at all, do not have any indication of which jurisdiction of the copyright exists under, or who else has the authority to license the materials… Ownership can include the authority to issue licenses — specifically licenses which might work in situations which are not imagined at the moment of archival.

The restriction on the access is rational. The bases of the restriction should be described and linked. The access basis does not remove any copyright considerations but may limit the kinds of licenses which may be applied.
