Some Gesture “Wordlists” from Northwest Nigeria

My friend Ibrahim Tume Ushe and I had several conversations about gestures in NW Nigeria. In these two videos he shows me some of the more common gestures and explains their meanings.

Tume and another friend told me a story of how a foreigner got the hello wave and the “I curse your mother” wave mixed up. Or rather the foreigner was just unaware of the difference. - He kept getting such a response from people when he waved….
